How to troubleshoot/troubleshoot an error in WordPress editor.
Today, when I opened a post on one of my websites, I was unable to edit or see anything. I only see the following message.
“This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”
I checked other posts to see if they have the same problem but, for new posts which were published recently, have no problem at all. It only happens to my old posts which were published years ago. It’s kinda weird, is it right? Who cares and just goes to figure out how to solve it.
I started searching to see what happened. Then I saw many people had the same problem with me too. I saw many issues with that error. Some people said they had a problem because of the theme. Others said the one caused their blog problem is one of the plugins they had installed such as All In One WP Security. They recommended deactivating all plugins from the WordPress website, setting the WordPress website to its default theme…
Instead of doing as they suggest, I did my by deactivating one by one to figure out which one caused a problem. First, I deleted the “All In One WP Security” plugin which I installed but did not activate and then refreshed the post which just found out I have a problem with it. Nope, that’s not it. I then deactivated TablePress plugin, once again, not that one. Now, I have only one plugin left, so I deactivated it and then refreshed the post. Oh yeah, the problem is solved. So, the plugin that caused one of my posts problems is Embed Plus Plugin. I reactivated the plugin, then the problem is back.
So from now, I have two ways to choose. One is deactivating the plugin. Then all videos are embedded by using this plugin blank, black screen… I have another option with those posts that are using this plugin is changing embedded videos to WordPress general embedding way which still has some limited control for me about the video I embed. Another option is deactivating the plugin when I need to modify the post and then reactivate the plugin back after finishing modifying.
In conclusion, if you have a problem with “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”, then go to deactivate one by one of the following plugins until you find the problem.
- All In One WP Security
- Embed Plus Plugin for YouTube
If the problem is not solved, then deactivate the theme.
