I just read an article, Story Behind Emotional Photo of Refugee Dad Carrying Sleeping Daughter, which was posted on Yahoo. The story is about a father who was holding a sleeping daughter on the shoulder while selling pens on the street. Just a picture, now, changes the father and 2 children’s life dramatically. They are living in the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus. The children are 4 and 9. The family lived in Egypt, the mom returned Syria but the father refused to, so he has to sell stuffs to feed his kid while hasn’t find a job yet.
The picture was posted on the social sites and was shared around the net. Then Lebanese for Refugees activist Carol Malouf located them on Friday. After Ms. Malouf visisting, Simonarson, Norway father and activist and also a person who posted the picture, set up a raising fun with the goal is just $5,000 in 14 days; however, the goal was met just in 30 minutes. By this article was written, it went up to $66,000 and now, by the time I stopped by the fundraising site, it’s up to $98,878 USD and was raised by 3,530 people just in 1 day. I don’t think anyone can predict it but I’m sure all people are very happy about it’s a person a penny could change someone life. Now, the boy (Aboudi) started school on Oct 12 after and the guy (Abdul) just purchased a bakery/restaurant with the money. According to Indiegogo, the donation is $191,239 USD raised by 7,218 people in 3 months 3,781% of $5,000 goal.
